Look! Look!
It was a good thing that they established a small cafe shop there, now, you can enjoy the view of the place with drinks and snacks :P Lovely! Lovely!
Ok, now onto food! I thought Mang Inasal has the best Chicken in the Universe until I went to Manokan Country.
When you go here, try eating the inasal the local way --- by hand! :D How to eat Chicken Inasal 101: (1) mix the soy sauce and calamansi (sawsawan); (2) pour some chicken oil on your rice (3) you make "sawsaw" the chicken to the soy sauce and calamansi mix and oh yes, its a taste of heaven!
After that heart-attacking meal of inasal, off you go to Calea Cakes for more calories and fats. They have a wide variety choice for cakes, ice cream cakes and more cakes. This is just a happy place. Plus, the cakes are relatively rich and cheap for 80 pesos/slice (cheaper than your normal Starbucks cake).
Another must try dessert place is Felicia's Pastry Cafe. They have a wide variety of sweets too!
Now, to drink the night away Art District is the "cool" tambayan place for drinking and socializing.
But wait... there's more food! If you're spending 3 days or more in Bacolod, try these restaurants as well. Cheap and yummy!
1. Bob's
2. More coffee and tea at Kuppa
3. 21 Restaurant at Lacson Street! They have to die for Batchoy!
4. I have yet to ask my friend again for the name of this place but its near a dead end and by the fishing area of Bacolod where they serve the best seafood I've tasted. Not only that, they serve a bucket of oysters for Php 50 pesos! oh yeeeeehaaa!
5. The Chicken House for another variety of Inasal Chicken of goodness!
Ok, don't stop reading yet!!!! Please??? Before you start thinking that Bacolod is just a pig-out place (which I really don't mind if it is), the city has a rich cultural history and heritage. There's a building built across SM Bacolod dedicated to the late Pope John Paul II:
There are a lot of old houses right smack at the heart of the city of Bacolod. Balay Negrense is a must visit, their family tree diagram will inspire you!
Before you head home to Manila, give your friends and love ones (naks!) a taste of yummy Bacolod experience. Go to Penoy's for some local delicacies and of course back to Calea for some good comfort cakes. :)
