If you're a Filipino, chances are, you know the late President Ferdinand Marcos, a true blood Ilocano and famous President who wielded power during Martial Law.
Malacañang of the North is known in Ilocos as Malacañang ti Amianan - a 5-hectare property overlooking the beautiful Paoay lake. Now, who wants to live in Manila when you have a super scenic view like this at home? :)
Next Ilocos spot that we visited is the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation. You need to do a a bit of hard core walking in here but the view at the end is sooooooooo amazing! Well, if you're too lazy to walk, the locals would offer a pony ride for P100 pesos to and from the rock formation. Don't forget to bring a bottle of water, it could be really hot out there.
So off we go to the tip of Ilocos, the farthest destination in our checklist but definitely worth seeing --- The Patapat bridge, long awesome, awesome bridge. The bridge is elevated 31 meters above sea level and connects the Maharlika Highway of Laoag to the Cagayan Valley Region (I've been there too and the province is equally awesome as Ilocos. It'll probably be the next destination I will blog about). And just a trivia, Patapat bridge is said to be the 4th longest bridge in the country. Here, here, check it out!
The trip wouldn't be complete without checking out the beaches in North, well, yes, the Philippines has a looooooot of beautiful beaches around the country! To the Blue Lagoon we go, a cove with blue waters that's breathtakingly beautiful. High strong waves and white sand, awesome spot for surfing :)
Have I convinced you enough to visit Ilocos? :) I hope so. :D
